* News magazine says Pecik and Slim to combine stakes
* Combined venture to get nearly 25 pct of T. Austria- report
* T. Austria shares rise as much as 10.2 pct
VIENNA/FRANKFURT, June 5 (Reuters) - Shares in Telekom Austria rose as much as 10 percent on Tuesday after Austrian magazine News reported that Mexican telecoms tycoon Carlos Slim holds 4.1 percent of the company.
Weekly News also reported in its online edition, without specifying its sources, that Slim and Telekom Austria shareholder Ronny Pecik were preparing to combine their stakes to control almost a quarter of the company.
Slim's America Movil has recently made a move on Europe's telecom market, offering $3.25 billion, or 8 euros per share, for up to 28 percent of Dutch telecom group KPN, which was rejected by KPN.
Pecik and Egyptian partner Naguib Sawiris hold about 21 percent of Telekom Austria. Pecik said last month, when he was elected to company's supervisory board, that he was content with that holding.
Pecik has been otherwise tight-lipped about his plans. Telekom Austria declined to comment, while Austria's OeIAG state holding company - the company's biggest investor with a 28.4 percent stake - said it did not comment on "market rumours".
Telekom Austria shares were up 6 percent at 7.695 euros at 1309 GMT, off a high at 8 euros, the highest since May 23.
